Revamping of re-heating furnaces 3, 4, and 5 in the Hot Flats Shop
Revamping of re-heating furnace No. 3 was completed in October 2011. This enabled commissioning of a complex comprising 3 modern furnaces. This initiative focused on replacement of deteriorated equipment, increase in shop productivity and ensuring the required process parameters on slab re-heating. The total capex allocated to revamping of furnaces 3, 4 and 5 was 2,400 million rubles, while natural gas consumption was reduced by 70 million cubic metres, enabling project payback period of 3.8 years.
The project allowed to reduce specific fuel consumption for slab re-heating by 2 times.
